J-term 2019 Tropical Marine Biology
During J-term 2019, 14 students and 2 faculty members from the Biology Department at Pacific Lutheran University will travel from Tacoma, WA to the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas. For three weeks, we will study tropical marine biology and experience the various habitats the Bahamas has to offer. As part of this experience, teams of students will document our daily activities on this blog as a way for family, friends and colleagues to enjoy this experience with us and serve as a reminder of our amazing time together. We will experience and document the beautiful marine and terrestrial environments, the history and the people of San Salvador. This photo is a panorama taken from the top of the Dixon Hill Lighthouse and shows well the habitats and rural nature of the island. There will be a little bit of culture shock, but it will hopefully be healed by warm temperatures and memorable experiences.
