Happy Birthday Toby’s Mom!

Hellllooooo Washington readers. Today was honestly boring, but we’ll see about that later TOONITE…😗😛. We went to telephone pole just to get stung by jelly parts. I don’t know if it’s their way of hair loss, but they should keep that in control some of us are holding on by a thread….🐠 but anyways we were suppose to….i don’t know but we were looking at, but we were looking at something and we saw a whole lotta fish. A little too deep for our liking because our ears were hurting like shet tryna go down. After looking at feesh, and more feesh (I’m still trying to learn the names but be so for real a fish is…a fish). We headed back to the research center and on the way stopped by the store in town and ughhhhhh 👹 WE SKIPPED WENDY’S!!!!! We are so outraged by this. 😑 IDK WHAT THEY PUT IN THAT STAWBERRY CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM but imma need 13 more of thooossseeee. I tried so hard to keep the rage I had inside at a minimum. I’m still mad about it now and it’s 9pm 💀. We came back for lunch (DELISH AS ALWAYS 👅💦). 

A group of us also went and snorkeled on box jelly beach(where shannon was stung). We saw no box jellies but LOTS of fish and corals. We also saw a moray eel in a cave and some sea cucumbers. This spot was the closest we have been to so many fish because it was so shallow. 

after that 2nd snorkel we TOOK A PHHHAAAT nap. I don’t have much to say about dinner BUT THAT RED VELVET CAKE …she did something special for me tonight 😍🤞🏽💋. I had two of them Johns. Night class came and Mike yapped for what seemed to be night into days, days into weeks, weeks into months 💀 💤. And now we are here in our rooms getting ready to be absolutely wasted for payola’s bday tomorrow.

Dear adoring fans,  We started our day drenched in sweat and coconut oil after a long night of fighting the bugs and the demons. We headed to a delectable French toast breakfast, complete with orange juice. Then the worst happened: Eric and Marika left us. They’re now headed back to their clean, bug-free homes as we remain in the trenches.  Then, the group split to work on our research projects. One group, composed of Cooper, Abby, Zoe, and Kennedy headed to the pipe to observe the grazing patterns of damselfish. They will continue tomorrow, observing the fish every 2 hours. Another group, Shannon, Francine, and Sophia, went to Graham’s Harbor to do transects of the lithified sand reef there, in order to count the abundance and richness of reef fish. Another group, Kailee, Morgan, and Toby, headed to Rocky Point for sand samples to look for meiofauna in high, mid, and low tide. Later analysis showed many nemotodes and copepods. we at the hotel, motel, holiday inn 🏨

  Hello from the Bahamas! 🇧🇸 (for the last time 🥹) Friday morning marked our last day in San Salvador. For breakfast, we had pancakes and bacon, of course. We all found closure with the island in our ways, through final dips in the water, walks along the sand, and soaking up as much beach time as possible. All of us experienced mixed emotions as we prepared for our journey home. Some never wanted to leave, while others were ready for their own beds, pets, and family. Loose ends were tied, bags were packed and loaded, one last meal of pizza was had, and we all piled into Truck Y for the very last time.  We had one last stop at Wendys before boarding our flight to Nassau.  We landed in Nassau and were graciously greeted by our shuttle which had music AND AC!!! We stayed “at the motel, hotel, Holiday inn” -Pitbull 😎 We got our room situated and parted into 2 groups. Multi snork day!

 What is up lute fans! Today we had our last full day on the beautiful island of San Salvador! We started the day with a yummy breakfast of french toast, pancakes, sausage and bacon. Then we headed off to club med to hop on the dive boat. We all reminisced of our last time at club med wishing we could escape and run off. Simon took us to Captain Wes’s boat where he took us to the south side of the island. We started at a shallow reef, south of telephone pole. We saw many cool fish such as parrot fish, blue chromis, and black durgon. After that we went to the wall, which was where the ocean dropped into the deep blue. We saw massive barracuda, a caribbean reef shark, and a school of jacks. This was where we took the annual tropical marine ecology snorkeling picture. We also saw many coral “Christmas trees”. Which is PVC pipe where coral is allowed to grow without competition with algae so that it can hopefully relocate and be successful in dying reefs.  After some miscommunicat...
